Get Involved

Anyone can contribute to watershed protection.  The links on this page explain how you can get involved.

What does watershed protection mean to me?

  • Agricultural Community  Watershed protection for farmers and agricultural engineers.
  • Business and Industry  Watershed protection information for business and industry managers, employees and boards.
  • Homeowners  Watershed protection information for homeowners.
  • Local Government  Watershed protection information for local government officials and employees.
  • Water Suppliers  Watershed protection information for public water system managers, operators and boards.

Water Watch  This program is dedicated to helping you protect the streams, rivers, lakes and wetlands near and dear to your heart.

Watershed Watch  A volunteer project associated with the Watershed Initiative.

Monitoring Technical Workgroup  The Monitoring Subcommittee is a body of representatives from around the state who are involved in natural resource monitoring.

Water Supply

  • Water Management Planning  The Water Resource Information System (WRIS), developed in recent years through the cooperative efforts of water systems and local, regional and state agencies, is maintained by the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority and provides much of the information needed in the planning process.
  • Source Water Assessment and Protection Plan  Source water protection is any law, ordinance, program or activity that helps to secure a long-term quantity and quality of water that is suitable as a drinking water supply. Since there are many threats to our drinking water supplies and drinking water is so critical to our survival, it is important that appropriate measures are taken to ensure the long-term protection of our water supply.
  • Basin Coordinators can help direct you to activities in other watersheds.
