2004-2005 Strategic Monitoring Plan for Salt and Licking River Basins and Appendices A-D - This planning document also provides a standard set of water quality parameters and sampling regimes that were designed around land-use/cover types to allow maximum utilization of programmatic resources and best characterization of water quality resources.

Basin Status Report: State of the River: A report on the condition of the Salt River watershed, Kentucky, and the minor Ohio River tributaries in the area (November 1998) - This is the basin status report for the Salt River and nearby MORTs in Kentucky. The status report, published in November 1998, was produced as part of Kentucky's Watershed Management Framework.
Salt River Basin Management Plan - This document provides a watershed-by-watershed profile of the basin and documents the procedures and projects each program uses, but it also begins to provide geographic priority goals for the basin in greater detail.

- Water Quality Report to Congress (Integrated Report or 305b Report) - This report was prepared by the Kentucky Division of Water (DOW) for submittal to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fulfill requirements of Section 305(b) of the federal Water Pollution Control (or Clean Water) Act of 1972 (P.L. 92-500), as subsequently amended. Section 305(b) of the act requires states to assess and report current water quality conditions to EPA every two years. (PDF document)
- List of impaired waters for Kentucky (303d List) - Pursuant to Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act, the state of Kentucky has developed a list of waterbodies presently not supporting designated uses as required by 40 CFR 130.7(b)(4) and needing Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) development.
